A fantastic grouping of antique uncolored engravings from the 1600s drawn and engraved by Dutch painter Cornelius Bloemaert (1603-1692) and published by Giovanni Battista Ferrari (1584-1655) in Hesperides, Sive De Malorum Aureorum culturee etude Libri Quatuor (1646) a work devoted to life-sized citrus fruit grown in Rome, embellished with ribbons labeling the specimen names. Ferrari served as the Horitcultural Advisor to the Papal family, managing he Barberini Palace garden in Rome. The gardens showed the rarest plants from Asia, Africa, and America. This work became a leading source for botanical definitions. Framed with conservation glass.
